COMPETITIONS

OTTAWA, ONT., Departmental Buildings, 1914. Noffke was one of 62 architects from North America and Europe who submitted entries in this major competition. His design, listed as ‘No. 7’, was one of six finalists selected by the jurors. The project was cancelled due to the outbreak of WW1 and the federal government waited until 1923 before compensating the winners with an award of $5,000 each (NAC, RG11, Vol 2951, File 5307-1-C, 14 July 1923)
OTTAWA, ONT., Prototype for an Air Raid Shelter, 1941. Noffke was awarded First Prize of $200 for his plan for a brick shelter to be used by Canadians in the event of enemy air raids (R.A.I.C. Journal, xviii, July 1941, 119, illus.)
